Gary Coleman was a child actor vaulted into stardom by the hit late ’70s/’80s sitcom Diff’rent Strokes. But the short-lived Gary Coleman Show had nothing to do with Strokes — Coleman’s character doesn’t once utter his famous “Whatchoo talkin’ ’bout, Willis?” catchphrase. The half-hour animated program was based on the 1982 made-for-TV movie The Kid with the Broken Halo, which featured Coleman as an angel-in-training who keeps getting into trouble, so he’s sent back to earth to “earn his wings.” In the animated show, Coleman’s character, Andy LeBeau, attempted to help children with various problems, all while overcoming obstacles presented to him by his nemesis, Hornswoggle.
