Is there anything kids love more than characters from Saturday Night Live? In light of the lack of success of The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley, the answer to that question is a resounding “Yes. Lots.” Ed Grimley was an oddball, nerdy character with hair slicked up to a point who was created by comedian Martin Short. Grimley debuted on the pioneering sketch comedy show SCTV but found widespread success when Short portrayed him during his one-season stint on Saturday Night Live in the mid-’80s. The animated show featured voices by Short and his SCTV co-stars Andrea Martin and Catherine O’Hara, as well as Joe Flaherty, who reprised his SCTV role as “Count Floyd” in live-action segments. A DVD of the complete series came out in 2013.
